Immunology: Home
Security Kit Should
Include General Immune Stimulant
In recent days government officials have recommended that
each American home put together a "survival kit" to be used in the event of a
widespread terrorist attack.
Specific intelligence suggesting terrorists are planning
new attacks against U.S. interests at home and abroad has resulted in the purchase of tons
of plastic sheeting and miles of duct tape as people prepare to keep dangerous toxins from
seeping in through cracks around windows and doors.
In addition to these precautions, many doctors and health
practitioners are recommending the addition of proven immune stimulants to each home
"survival kit." Having treated many patients with compromised immune systems,
Frank D. Sutton, MD, a Birmingham, Alabama physician, stresses, "every home should
consider adding an immune stimulant to their survival kit in preparation for possible
chemical or biological attack."
Based on carefully conducted laboratory and clinical
research at institutions such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National
Cancer Institute, Southern Research Institute, Schneider Children's Hospital/Albert
Einstein College of Medicine of New York, University of Alabama in Birmingham, and the
Baptist Health Systems of Alabama, a very safe and effective immune support agent is now
available to the general public. For more than a decade, people with specific immune
system challenges like HIV/AIDS and cancer patients undergoing radiation and chemotherapy,
have used CM4, an over-the-counter product for general immune support.
Omega Pharmaceutical, Inc., of Birmingham, Alabama,
recently released details of the immune supportive functions of its product, CM4. This is
a natural liquid glycoside that shows antiviral activity at the CCR cell receptor sites,
those known to be involved in the infectivity of a host of viruses including HIV.
In addition to its down regulation of viral infection, CM4
has been shown to increase the number of critical CD-4 or "T" cells in normal
volunteers as well as in the primary response to bone and tissue healing in a mouse model.
Additionally, CM4 is a powerful and helpful modulator of some human "messenger"
cytokines that cause weight loss in cancer patients and those affected by HIV/AIDS. The
same human immune cytokine, called "tumor necrosis factor, alpha," is
responsible for the joint inflammation of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the bowel
inflammation of those afflicted with Crohn disease.
Omega Pharmaceutical is currently preparing to conduct a
"proof of concept" trial utilizing CM4 to see if its addition to small doses of
vaccine can obtain a full immunizing response in humans. If so, this will expand our
currently critical vaccine supplies and may simultaneously allow significant reduction in
side effects. This would prove particularly important as the nation prepares to receive
smallpox vaccine and our troops receive such toxic vaccine schedules as they must
currently endure for anthrax.
Sutton, who conducted clinical research on 68 patients in
conjunction with an Investigational New Drug Application (IND) reviewed by the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration, commented, "CM4 proved to be a highly effective component
for the treatment of patients with severely compromised immune systems. My clinical work
demonstrated stabilization of weight in those with wasting due to full-blown AIDS and a
reduction in secondary "opportunistic" infections. In some individuals, clearing
of leukoplakia (EB virus) and venereal wart lesions of human papilloma virus completely
resolved during the trial."
Further, Sutton emphasizes the overall effectiveness CM4
should provide when one considers immune support and protection from a number of
potentially life-threatening biological agents. "Known protection of the bone marrow
in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation might additionally mean that CM4
would be helpful if one is exposed to chemical toxins. Research results demonstrated CM4
to be a potent, multi-prong product that supports the immune system in a variety of
research proven ways," Sutton stresses.
In today's world of heretofore unthinkable bioterrorist
acts, the protection of the immune system is important for even the healthy individual.
For those people with any type of chronic disease or specific immuno- compromising malady,
it becomes a critical issue.
Many people with specific immune challenges have privately
used CM4 for general immune support. Jerry Thacker is president of Scepter Institute, in
Reading, Pennsylvania. He, his wife Sue, and their daughter Sarah has been HIV infected
since 1984 due to a blood transfusion given to Sue after she gave birth to Sarah.
"People want to know how we have lived for more than 19 years after exposure to
HIV/AIDS. Well, one component of our survival regimen is CM4. We have used it for years as
a general broad-spectrum supporter of our weakened immune systems," said Thacker.
According to Jack Mayhall, president of Omega
Pharmaceutical, Inc., "We now have completed studies on CM4 conducted by some of the
nation's most prestigious research institutions that have shown results demonstrating
general immune support. Details of basic laboratory and clinical research can be
referenced on the company's web site. CM4 has been shown to be safe and efficacious in the
USA, in South America and many African countries with positive published results."
While government officials may recommend storing water,
groceries, and alternative heating fuels, an informed American may also want to start
their "survival" effort from the inside out by strengthening the most potent
protection known against all injurious agents - the human immune system.
